My Project Life #7

I've been busy with my PL album.

Lots of cute embellies on this spread. On the left I've used PTI's Little Bitty Bird additions set, and the tickets were made with another PTI set called Just the Ticket (although the sentiments come from an Avery Elle set (Oh yeah)). That also comes with matching dies, including a speech bubble die which is the perfect size for a 3 x 4 pocket (more on that later).

Here's a close up of the tickets which I adhered with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher.

PTI March blog hop

The theme for this month's bog hop is high gloss.

Looking for something that would give a bit of shine, I decided to give some nail polish a go. And here's what I came up with - it's a filler card for my Project Life album. Pretty pleased with how it turned out. I  even managed to stamp on top of the nail polish.

It's not that easy to see in the photo, but it's pretty shiny in real life.

My Project Life #6

Here's another spread from Dec-Jan. There are lots of free filler and journaling cards online, and I found some goodies.

I also found some layered templates from Tracy Larsen. These make it easy to position and crop photos (using clipping masks) and to add journaling to the photo. You can see one of them on the right hand page, bottom left. If you have Photoshop or PSE, check out Tracy's Simply White Collection here.

My Project Life #5

Here are a couple of embellished cards from this month. I mostly try and keep the cards pretty flat because there isn't that much room inside the pockets. So washi tape, stickers and low profile embellies work best for me.

The rhinestones on these flowers are probably just a wee bit high, but i like the flowers so much I wanted to include them. There is the option of gluing things to the outside of the pockets, but I didn't want to do that as I'm not sure how long they would last there, especially she n the album is going to be handled by kids.

My Project Life #4

I didn't have that many photos to choose from this month, so needed a lot of extra filler cards to add to the pages.  Thankfully, managed to find some cute free printable cards for Christmas so you'll see a lot of those in the next couple of spreads.

I also came across this free December calendar:

And some free Advent calendar printables here at Lost Bumblebee. One Velvet Morning is another great site for tracking down Project Life freebies. Check it out here.

My Project Life #3

Here's another layout from month 2 of my niece's PL album. I printed the 3 x 4 and square photos myself at home and uploaded the standard size for printing.

The alphabet filler card was a freebie printable and I embellished the 3 cards on the right hand spread. Happened to have some My Mind's Eye paper and matching wash tape which toned in well with the PL cards.

My Project Life #2

I'm sharing another layout from my niece's Project life album. As I mentioned, I'm doing computer journaling because I don't think my handwriting looks that great.  When I was working out how to journal and then print on physical PL cards, I came across a few helpful posts.

You can check out Listgirl's post and video here.   Liz from Paislee Press also has some great tips  and a downloadable printing template that will let you print 3 x4 and 4 x 6  cards, even if your printer won't take paper that small.  I always do a test print on scrap paper first to make sure that my journaling is in the right place!

My Project Life journey #1

I'm working on a Project Life album documenting my niece's first year. Having a lot of fun getting back into scrapbooking. And pocket scrapbooking is certainly faster and less intimidating that working on 12 x 12 layouts. I'm using the Baby neutral kit, supplemented by Maggie Holmes' Flea Market mini kit and other supplies from my stash. I've also been using some digital products, designing my own journaling and fill cards and printing them out at home.

This has finally been my motivation to get to grips with Photoshop Elements (after about 4 years!) and I'm definitely tempted to do more digital scrapbooking in the future. I've found some great resources online (including lots of free stuff) and hope to share some favourite links as I go along.

Here are the first couple of pages - the title and early photos.

I'm keeping it pretty simple with flattish layers. I like the look of some cohesion with repeated elements such as similar stickers, wash tape, wood embellishments and so on.

Decided to do computer journaling as I don't like my handwriting much. I'm using three main fonts - Clementine Sketch, Pacifico and Typewriter Scribbled.

Knitted tunic

Have been doing some more knitting for my cute niece. She's now 3 1/2 months old and growing fast:

I came across some lovely summer knits and thought I'd give a short sleeved tunic a go. This is a 6-12 months size so hope she can get some good use from it. It goes nicely with some cute striped pants from Nature Baby:
