Cameo rose

There is a new challenge over at the Moxie Fab blog which involves using a cameo in a project. I was wondering how on earth I was going to take part but then remembered that I had some Martha Stewart cameo stickers which my friend Pattie sent me a while back. Thanks Pattie!

Here's what I came up with.  No stamping and no sentiment on this card as I haven't decided who to send it to yet:

Papertrey January blog hop challenge

Hi there and thanks for visiting.  This month's challenge was to ink up a stamp set that hasn't seen much use.

I immediately knew that I should break out A Little Argyle.  I have to confess that I've only used it once (not very successfully)!  I seem to have an argyle mental block.  So this was the perfect challenge.

Here's what I came up with:

Supplies
Paper - PTI vintage cream, aqua mist, ocean tides
Stamps - PTI A Little Argyle, Layers of Color Architectural Blocks

I wasn't so keen on the brown, but the pillow inspired me to my own (not so deconstructed) rose from organza ribbon. This is what I came up with:

I created the background by layering elements from a number of Papertrey Ink stamp sets - Take Note, Vintage Ornaments Additions and Beautiful Blooms II.

Scrapbook layout - Mill

One of the highlights of my trip to Austria in September was going to places that were connected with our family history. This is the mill where my 8 x great grandfather worked as a miller in the early 1600s!  Part of the white mill building dates from that time so it was pretty amazing to think that I was standing outside the building where so many generations of the family lived and worked.

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger: winter white

This week's Tuesday Trigger at the Moxie Fab Blog is this gorgeous 'appliqued' wedding cake from Martha Stewart Living.

It inspired me to haul out my sewing machine and to come up with my own appliqued elements for a card.  Can't believe I've finally got around to using some of the embroidery functions!  I bought my sewing machine about 24 years ago and the instruction book has wonderful photos of 80s clothes and some gems like this one: 'Lace will always be popular with both young and old and whatever fashion or the times decree, lace will find a way onto garments or into the home'.  I'm sure Martha would agree!

This is what I came up with:

Supplies
Paper - PTI stamper's select white, smokey shadow
Stamps - PTI 2009 anniversary set (sentiment)
Ink - versamark
Accessories - sewing machine, white embossing powder, Martha Stewart gemstones, Tim Holtz idea-ology memo pin, tulle, glue dots

Vintage birdcage

I love the Tim Holtz birdcage die and was so excited to discover I could use it in my cuttlebug (just with 2 B plates).  Here's what I came up with:

The rolled roses were made using a free svg file which you can find here.  Just be careful when re-sizing the flower - you sometimes get an extra line across it which means it won't cut properly.

Supplies
Paper - PTI stamper's select white cardstock, SU bella rose designer series paper, white tissue paper
Ink - PTI vintage tea dye duo
Accessories - Tim Holtz alterations die caged bird, Martha Stewart doily lace trim deep edge punch, Quickutz metal sheet, Kaisercraft black rhinestone, SU riding hood red taffeta ribbon, clear acrylic beads, Tim Holtz idea-ology charm clips
