PTI March blog hop

Hi and thanks for peeking.

This month Nichole challenged us to incorporate buttons.  I also wanted to use some of the wonderful PTI felt (which I've just learnt to cut out with my cricut).

Here is my spring card:

I attached the buttons to the felt with embroidery thread.  And in the close up of the largest flower you can see I also stitched around the felt circle:

The 'scallop' border is actually the leaves from blooming button bits - stamped in Versamark and embossed. Love the versatility of PTI stamps!

Supplies
Paper - PTI stamper's select white card stock, SU baja breeze, SU 6 x 6 designer paper pack
Stamps - PTI blooming button bits
Ink - Momento black, SU baja breeze, Versamark
Accessories - buttons, clear embossing powder

Violet card

I've been looking for more 'line' stamps to use with patterned paper or for watercolouring so was very pleased to see this PTI violet stamp. Apart from the card base, I managed to use scraps for this card. The paper is a mixture of SU cardstock and other pieces from my stash. The scallop border was cut with a .cut file on my cricut:

Supplies
Paper - SU lovely lilac, 6 x 6 designer paper pack, purple and pink card from stash
Stamps - PTI year of flowers - violet
Ink - Momento black
Accessories - cricut

Butterfly dreams

I think this is my new favourite set - butterfly dreams from PTI. So many different butterflies to chose from. The butterflies are popped out using foam  dimensionals.  No sentiment because I'm trying to make cards without sentiments until I decide who to give them to and what for what occasion.  More flexibility that way!

Supplies
Paper - PTI stampers select white cardstock
Stamps - PTI butterfly dreams
Ink - SU kiwi kiss, riding hood red, baja breeze
Accessories - PTI butterfly die, wool felt, foam mounting tape

Cutting felt with the cricut

I saw this post which explains how to cut felt with the cricut so thought I should have a go. I'm pleased to report that it works  well and I'm really excited at the thought of being able to easily make my own felt embellishments.  I used Heat n Bond ultra hold to stabilise the felt and removed the paper backing paper  before placing the felt on a new cutting mat.  As I have the Create which doesn't have a multicut function, I used the deep blade housing. Blade set to 6, speed and pressure to maximum.

I cut a circle using the George cartridge and a flower from Accent Essentials:

And here are my simple embellishments using buttons and twine:

Supplies
Accessories - cricut, George & Basic Shapes cartridge, Accent Essentials cartridge, wool felt, Heat n Bond ultra hold

Joy fold card

I finally got around to trying out a joy fold card. Great fun and super easy. For this card I used my new Haiku designer paper from Stampin' Up! together with the asian lanterns embossing folder for my cuttlebug. Love the combination of colours.  The tag keeping the card closed is another embossed lantern that I cut out and popped out using dimensionals on one side.

Here is the card:

And a view of the inside:

Supplies
Paper - SU tangerine tango, Haiku designer paper, green card from stash
Accessories - cuttlebug, lantern embossing folder, dimensionals

Japanese dragonfly

I recently found some asian inspired cuttlebug embossing folders so thought I'd try out one of them. This looks a bit like fish scales I think. I think this might actually be the 'debossed' side, but I like how it looks.  The dragonfly was cut with my cricut home decor cartridge:

And a close up of the folder pattern:
