Simple thank you

I've been experimenting with different styles lately.  Here is a super simple thank you card that involves minimal stamping and incorporates a large Kaisercraft rub on (which took ages to apply).  Maybe rub ons aren't so convenient after all?  Perhaps this style is best described as 'clean and lazy:

Supplies
Paper - PTI stamper's select white cardstock
Stamps - PTI mega mixed messages (sentiment)
Ink - Versafine onyx black, PTI vintage tea dye duo
Accessories - Kaisercraft Prairie Lane rub ons

Vintage Christmas

At the weekend I went to a vintage Christmas card class at my local scrapbook store. Vintage isn't really my thing, but we got to try out some new techniques like micro beads, image transfer and crackle effects. I had a lot of fun and might be brave enough to try a few more cards like this:

Supplies
Paper - PTI stamper's select white card stock,  card stock & patterned paper from kit, Kathleen Green collage sheet
Accessories - Ranger crackle accents, red rhinestones, black lace trim, sewing machine

Packaging

It's that time of year when you need simple but effective packaging ideas. I've just packed up a birthday present for a friend and made a 'box in a bag' using this tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers. I just altered the size to fit my gift. It was very easy and I'm pleased with the result (and I think my friend will be too!) I used double sided designer series paper from SU which works really well:

And a view looking from the top:

Supplies
Paper - SU baja breeze, rose red, Cutie Pie DSP
Accessories - scor tape, apron lace punch, making memories ribbon, hole punch, white gel pen, curved tab svg file

Birthday card & bookmark

After my notebook frenzy, I've discovered bookmarks.  Papertrey Ink's bookmark die makes it super easy to crank them out (literally!)  Here's a set I made for my Godson's sister Sophie (shhh don't tell her).

I often cut letters or sentiments with my cricut but for this bookmark I wanted to stamp a monogram instead.  Since I don't have any alphabet stamps I improvised and inked up the 's' in the 'notes' stamp from PTI's Take Note. Maybe I don't need alphabet stamps after all?  Here's what I came up with:

Supplies
Paper - PTI stamper's select white, SU Cutie Pie DSP
Stamps - PTI birthday  bash sentiments, take note (tag circle & monogram)
Ink - Versafine onyx black
Accessories - SU so saffron grosgrain ribbon, circut die cuts, foam dimensionals, PTI vintage cream button twine

Embellish holidays colour challenge

I saw the Embellish Magazine holiday challenge using these colours and thought it would be fun to try something other than a card. Since I've been in tag-making mode the last few weeks, I thought I'd just continue!  Here's what I came up with:

The tag and 'suburst' shape are free svg  files I cut with my cricut.  I had  real issues with stamping the round tag frame and sentiment  - I must have stamped that thing about half a dozen times before I got it properly lined up. Maybe my eyesight is finally going?  But here it is in all its glory:

Paper  - SU pirouette pink, PTI pure poppy, spring moss, cosmo cricket jolly by golly patterned paper
Stamps - PTI 2008 holiday tags

Papertrey November blog hop challenge

Hi and welcome. This month's challenge was to design a holiday tag using some of our favourite products.

Perfect timing because I needed to make some tags for work gifts. This year I'm making chocolate cookies and other homemade treats for some of my co-workers.  The recipe for the cookies is from Nigella Lawson and the cookies are just divine! (You can download a copy of the recipe below).

So, here are my cookies:

Download the cookie recipe here (link will take you to MediaFire)

And here are two of my tags.  I cut a jar layer from acetate (used the clear boxes PTI stamps come in) to layer over the stamped jar and give it that shiny look:

Supplies
Paper - SU Kraft, cosmo cricket jolly by golly patterned paper
Stamps - PTI firendship jar, friendship jar holiday fillers
Ink - versafine onyx black, memento lady bug, memento cottage ivy, stazon (for jar lid)
Accessories - PTI friendship jar die, jar label die, acetate, Quickkutz metal sheets, SU riding hood red striped grosgrain, PTI rustic cream button twine, green & red stickles, dimensionals.

Notebook frenzy

Ok. I have to confess that I'm now addicted to making covered notebooks. I've seen the fantastic items that others have produced and thought they'd make lovely gifts.  I recently bought some of Papertrey's notepads and gave them a try myself.

My cover  is an 8 1/4 x 5 3/4 inch piece of cardstock scored along the short side at 2 3/4 and 3 inches to make a spine for the pad. If you want to have a pocket flap on the inside left cover, use an 8 1/4 x 8 1/4 piece of cardstock and score at 2 1/2, 5 1/4 and 5 1/2 (or use Nichole's great  template which you'll find here). Then decorate!

Supplies
Paper - PTI dark chocolate, ripe avocado, spring moss, turning a new leaf patterned paper
Stamps - PTI Take note
Ink - SU chocolate chip
Accessories - PTI notepad, spring moss buttons, rustic cream button twine

Stamps - PTI Take note
Ink -Versafine black
Accessories - PTI notepad, hawaiian shores, simply chartreuse & black felt, hawaiian shores button, rustic cream button twine

Scrapbook layouts

Haven't done much card making just recently because I've been working on my photos from our trip to Austria. Here are a couple of layouts I've done so far.  The album is A4 size which I like, but it means it doesn't take much to fill up a page:

I have a lot of bright coloured cardstock in my stash I haven't used for cards, so this is a great way to be able to put it to use!  I've been using my cricut to cut the headings and some of the embellishments. Really should use it more.

Bleached autumn leaves

This is my take on a bleach technique which Gina K demonstrates here.  I used PTI's leaf prints set and am pretty pleased with how it turned out. Tried bleaching a range of colours and the darker colours definitely work best.  Instead of using black embossing powder, I inked up my stamp using versamark followed by the black ink and embossed with clear powder:

Supplies
Paper - cream card from stash, SU bravo burgundy, kraft, PTI ripe avocado
Stamps - PTI leaf prints
Ink - versamark, versafine onyx black, PTI vintage touch tea dye duo
Accessories - clear embossing powder, PTI linen/canvas impression plate, PTI ripe avocado saddle stitch ribbon, foam mounting tape, glue dots, bleach

Glitter butterflies

Time for another birthday card. This one uses a layout I cased from Niki Estes.  I used PTI's butterfly dreams and broke out my stickles which I haven't used for a while. I'm still trying to use up some scraps so this kind of  layout is perfect for that.

The scalloped sqaures were cut with my cricut, as was the ticket shaped mat for the sentiment.  The ticket shape is from a free Penny Duncan svg file I downloaded here:

Supplies
Card - PTI stamper's select white, SU yoyo yellow, chocolate chip, good morning sunshine DSP
Stamps - PTI butterfly dreams, just the ticket
Ink - SU chocolate chip
Accessories - circut die cuts, stickles, sewing machine

Bouquet of roses

I thought it was about time I posted something that wasn't a card! Just got this cross stitch framed and am really pleased with how it turned out. When I bought it I didn't realise that it was worked on linen, not canvas but 2 years and 1 magnifying glass later, this is the result:

The cross stitch is a kit  by Thea Gouverneur called 'Rozenboeket'.

Miss you

This card features a layered flower from PTI's beautiful blooms 2 - cut out using the matching dies.  The journalling block is a digi image which I downloaded a while ago - useful to have a few of these around and the beauty of them is they don't take up any storage space:

Supplies
Paper - cream card from stash, SU baja breeze, kiwi kiss, whisper white
Stamps - PTI beautiful booms II, mega mixed messages (sentiment)
Ink - SU baha breeze, kiwi kiss
Accessories - button, digi journalling image, linen thread, PTI beautiful blooms die 2, PTI rickrack die

Papertrey July blog hop challenge

Hi and welcome. This month's challenge was to use office supplies in a paper crafting project. I found some fun paperclips and decided to incorporate those.

I used the linen side of the canvas/linen impression plate for my kraft layer and the torn notebook is an SVG file from Lauren Meader.  I've continued the 'office' theme with some SU designer series paper.  The flower was cut using PTI's beautiful blooms die #2.  I sewed the flower onto another heart shaped paperclip to form the leaves.

Thanks for visiting/commenting!

Moxie Fab World Challenge - shabby blooms

Time for another Moxie Fab World Challenge - this time it's the Card Style Shabby Chic and Vintage Challenge.  My card features PTI's 'In bloom' stamp set and some vintage lace (so I guess it qualifies for the vintage as well as the shabby part of the challenge?).

I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would, so maybe I'm more 'shabby' at heart than I realised :)

And here's a close up of the vintage lace.  One of my great uncles was a lace salesman at one stage and my mother was given quite a few of his samples. Finally putting them to good use!:
