PTI April blog hop

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by. This month's challenge was to use tissue paper.

I found some lovely pink tissue paper and had to use my favourite PTI die, the butterfly.

I cut out 6 layers of paper with the die and held them together with a brad. I also had a vision of  butterflies with some glimmer so added some glitter with my 2 way glue pen.  Here is my card:

And a close up of a butterfly:

Supplies
Paper - PTI stampers select white, SU baja breeze, pink from stash
Stamps - PTI asian fusion
Ink - Memento tuxedo black
Accessories - PTI butterfly die, crystal brads, 2 way glue pen, clear glitter, sewing machine, cricut die cuts, black pen

Becky's compose a card #9

Here is the card I made for Becky's latest  compose a card challenge.  The grid layout made me think of  those old insect collections so I wanted to use one of the butterflies from PTI's butterfly dreams to create a 'prettier' display!

The blue butterfly is popped up which I think fits with the sentiment.  I sponged the edges of the base and layer with PTI's tea dye duo and used my white gel pen to add some faux stitching.

Supplies
Paper - SU kraft, kiwi kiss, baja breeze, riding hood red, bella rose designer paper
Stamps - PTI butterfly dreams
Ink - Memento tuxedo black, PTI tea dye duo
Accessories - foam mounting tape, white gel pen

Emboss resist leaves

Finally got around to trying out the emboss resist technique which Nichole demonstrated a while back. Had so much fun with this technique I wonder why I didn't try it sooner!

Supplies
Paper - SU kraft, kiwi kiss, chocolate chip, whisper white, bella rose designer paper
Stamps - PTI turning a new leaf, background text stamp
Ink - versamark, SU kiwi kiss, chocolate chip
Accessories - clear embossing powder

Black & white

I enjoyed Becky's latest compose a card challenge so much thought I'd try out one of her earlier ones which used black, white and avocado green. The idea was to use a negative stamp for the border and a positive one for the background. Looking for options, I made the discovery that I have only one negative stamp! Well I think it turned out ok and I like the colour combination. Here's my card:

Supplies
Paper - PTI stamper's select white, black & green from stash
Stamps - PTI asian fusion, turning a new leaf
Ink - Memento black
Accessories - SU old olive grosgrain ribbon, SU styled silver hardware

One layout two cards

This is a case of a card I saw on Dawn McVey's blog that uses a library card designed by Heather Nichols. In my quest to use up some scraps ( yes still more!) thought I'd make two similar cards and just change round one of the colours and use a different focal element. For this one I cut flowers using my cricut and the Home Decor cartridge.  The stitched brad is from Basic Grey:

The second features butterflies from PTI's Butterfly Dreams (just love that set!):

Supplies
Paper - SU chocolate chip, summer sun, kiwi kiss, tangerine tango, Good Morning Sunshine designer paper, Core'dinations chocolate box
Stamps - PTI butterfly dreams, mega mixed messages
Ink - SU chocolate chip
Accessories - SU chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon, EK success embossed scallop punch, cricut die cuts, Basic grey stitched brad, Heather's library card, dimensionals

Becky's compose a card #7

I've been hovering and checking out Becky's Compose a Card challenges and finally decided to take part in one today.

It was quite a challenge - not entirely sure why. Maybe the dimensions? Anyway, this is what I came up with using the gorgeous PTI black felt, and the butterfly die. I made my own yellow patterned paper using one of the flowers from Asian Fusion and Versamark ink.  Still trying to use up some of my scraps so this worked well for that!

Supplies
Paper - SU baja breeze, yellow sun, cream card from stash
Stamps - PTI asian fusion, blooming button bits
Ink - Versamark, Memento black
Accessories - PTI butterfly die, My Mind's Eye buttons, sewing machine, cuttlebug spots & dots embossing folder

Stamps - PPTI polka dot basics
Ink - Versamark
Accessories - button, SU grosgrain ribbon, foam mounting tape, clear embossing powder
